Hong Kong’s rainy season during the summer months means you’ll be looking for somewhere dry to practice! Fortunately there’s now a plethora of options available, both operated by the Government ( see website here for details: LCSD) under a somewhat convoluted system as well as a number of private gyms – see below and links for details of these.

Outdoor Leading Walls

18m_high

YMCA Kings Park
An 18m high outdoor leading wall with approx. 25 routes up it. Requires a simple assessment to be taken prior to use. (Ropes and quickdraws can be hired)

Shek Kip Mei Games Hall
A government run and maintained outdoor leading wall. Can only be used following completion of an assessment course by either the Hong Kong Mountaineering Union or the Sport Climbing Association. Contact the HKMU at 2504-8124 for further details.

Shun Lee Tsuen Games Hall

Indoor Leading Walls

YMCA Salisbury Hotel, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
Two converted squash courts with both leading and top roping facilities on the third floor of the hotel building. Again, this wall requires a simple assessment to be completed prior to use.
