Lamma Island currently has three established climbing areas in its southern part, all of which are best accessed from the Sok Kwu Wan Ferry Pier. The climbing areas include
Sok Kwu Buttress a recently developed and easily accessible crag providing a good mix of traditional and sport routes, including one of Hong Kong’s best looking crack climbs and a [closed] project that is likely to yield the hardest route in HK.
Mount Stenhouse an old school trad climbing crag that provides a full day adventure climbing experience (i.e. long approach and climbs that don’t see much traffic – expect lots of gardening on both the approach and routes…)
Bouldering a collection of rounded boulders on the hillside overlooking Sok Kwu Wan, offering a nice mix of technical problems. Potential for development as there’s hundred of boulders up there, although sadly most are completely blank and featureless.
